Keris Bugis Sulawesi Luk 9 Selut Perak Anyaman.

Keris Bugis Sulawesi Luk 9 Selut Perak Anyaman – Another very good and rare example of a keris form the southern Sulawesi regions of Bugis. Handle in the kerdas form, is made from well selected kemuning woods having the base encased with finely weaved silver wires. The mendak or ferrule is of silver with filigree works. The top sheath is also made of well selected kemuning woods with tight flashing grains, with the bottom stem made of angsena woods with tiger’s stripe grains. A horn bottom tip or buntut completes the fittings.

Very sturdy blade with 9 waves or luks has the base features or perabots using the kembang kacang nguku bima or bima’s claw.

Pamor patterns are arranged in the mlumah technique and has a peak like formation at the base called ujung gunung and the top are of the wos utah or scattered rice variations.

The pamor ujung gunung is said to enhance the owner’s status while the pamor wos utah is said to enhance the owner’s material well being.

Condition:
Very good condition. 
Aside from minor hairline cracks, rest is all in very good condition.

Age:  Krises are traditionally made without any date stampings or engravings of the makers' name. Although a kris smith or "empu" has his own styles configured together with the dapor and especially the ganjar (cross piece). Obvious age wear and tear, usage, familiarity with forms, motifs and designs, origin and history, mediums and materials used are our guidelines in determining an approximate age. This particular piece, from our experience and knowledge, should go back to the late 19th century.
