Keris Bugis Sumbawa Luk 7 Ujung Gunung 0111 – Another very good and rather rare example of a keris from the Bugis influenced eastern island of Sumabwa. Handle in the unusual kerdas form is made from very well selected kemuning woods having a well repoussed brass pendoko or ferrule. Top sheath in the square tebeng (Malay) form is also made from very well selected kemuning woods with flashing as well as contrasting grains. Newly made bottom stem is made from traditionally selected angsana woods.

Very sturdy blade with 7 waves or luks and perabots or base features with string Bugis influence as well as the angled edge or gusen which is common Bugis characteristics.

Pamor patterns are rather rare with the base arranged in the miring technique showing a peak like formation called ujung gunung. Above it and arranged in the other mlumah technique and pamor kulit semangko or melon skin pamor.
The pamor ujung gunung is aid to enhance the owner’s status while the pamor kulit semangko is said to enhance the owner’s popularity.

Condition: Very good condition.

Age:  Krises are traditionally made without any date stampings or engravings of the makers' name. Although a kris smith or "empu" has his own styles configured together with the dapor and especially the ganjar (cross piece). Obvious age wear and tear, usage, familiarity with forms, motifs and designs, origin and history, mediums and materials used are our guidelines in determining an approximate age. This particular piece, from our experience and knowledge, should go back to the late 19th century.
