MALAY ART GALLERY'S....House of  Keris

Keris Jawa Kebo Lajer Dwi Warna 0320.

Keris Jawa Kebo Lajer Dwi Warna 0320 - Another very good and rare example of a keris from the central Javanese regions, with the fittings or  wrangka  in the gayaman Surakarta forms, made from very well selected teak burl woods or jati gembol having a well repoussed brass outer stem cover or pendok bunton.

Long and very sturdy, straight or lurus blade, with plain base features or perabots, having only the the elongated picetan without any sogokans, with an overall shape or dapor called kebo lajer.

Pamor patterns are showing two diffrent patterns with the base having a swirl like formation called the pamor qul buntet, while above it are pamor wos utah or scattered rice pamor.
The dapor
kebo lajer is said to be best suited for a farmer, for it is siad to protect the farm from natural mishaps. With two amor arrangements, it is also called dwi warna or bi colored ganjar.

Condition: Very good condition.

Age:  Krises are traditionally made without any date stampings or engravings of the makers' name. Although a kris smith or "empu" has his own styles configured together with the dapor and especially the ganjar (cross piece). Obvious age wear and tear, usage, familiarity with forms, motifs and designs, origin and history, mediums and materials used are our guidelines in determining an approximate age. This particular piece, from our experience and knowledge, should go back to the late 18th century blade, with newly made fittings.

Length of blade: 14".   Overall length: 19.5".
