Keris Jawa Luk 3 Naga Siluman Kinatah Singa Gajah.

Keris Jawa Luk 3 Naga Siluman Kinatah Singa Gajah – A very good and rare example of a keris from the central Javanese regions of Surakarta. Fittings in the ladrangan Solo styles are made from well selected pellet woods with natural contrasting grains that occur due to fungal attacks. A gold plated brass ferrule or mendak selut with glass profusions completes fittings.

Very sturdy blade with three luks or waves, a prominent spine, and has the rare dragon at the base called the Naga Siluman. The face of the Naga is inlaid with 22K gold and also has gold inlaying works at the base cross piece of ganjar that shows an elephant and a lion, or Singa Gajah.

Pamor patterns are rare an are arranged in the miring technique, showing formations at the middle of the blade. This pattern is called pamor dhadung muntir or twisted rope (?), and is said to enhance the owner’s status.

Condition: Very good condition.

Age:  Krises are traditionally made without any date stampings or engravings of the makers' name. Although a kris smith or "empu" has his own styles configured together with the dapor and especially the ganjar (cross piece). Obvious age wear and tear, usage, familiarity with forms, motifs and designs, origin and history, mediums and materials used are our guidelines in determining an approximate age. This particular piece, from our experience and knowledge, should go back to late 19th century with newly made ferrule .

Length of blade: 15".   Overall length: 21".
