Keris Jawa Lurus Jalak Wengkon 0411.

Keris Jawa Lurus Jalak Wengkon 0411 A very good example of a keris from the central Javanese regions of Surakarta. Fittings or wrangka is in the gayaman Solo form is made from very well selected woods with natural flashing grains and is also made from a single piece of wood or seiras. Handle is made from hard ebony woods, and bottom stem is encased with an open brass stem cover or pendok blewah exposing the single piece of woods used without any joints.

Long, thick and very sturdy blade that feels heavy upon handling, has rather plain base features or perabots with an overall shape or dapor called jalak tilam upih.

Pamor patterns are rare and show only circumference lines along the edges of the blade called pamor wengkon. It is said to protect the owner in times of chaos.

Condition: Very good condition.

Age:  Krises are traditionally made without any date stampings or engravings of the makers' name. Although a kris smith or "empu" has his own styles configured together with the dapor and especially the ganjar (cross piece). Obvious age wear and tear, usage, familiarity with forms, motifs and designs, origin and history, mediums and materials used are our guidelines in determining an approximate age. This particular piece, from our experience and knowledge, should go back to the middle 19th century.

Length of blade: 14.7".   Overall length: 19.5".
