Keris Jawa Lurus Pasopati Batu Lapak  0120.

Keris Jawa Lurus Pasopati Batu Lapak  0120 - A very good example of a keris from the island central Jawa. Fittings in the Solonese ladrangan forms with the top sheath made of well grained trembalo woods, and hilt made from black hard ebony woods. Bottom stem is encased with a plain brass stem cover or pendok blewah.

Long, very sturdy blade with strong base features or perabots, that includes the kembang kacang, picetan and the grenengs or fretworks. It has an overall shape or dapor called pasopati in Javanese.

Pamor patterns are arranged in the miring technique, showing vertical lines of the standing or adeg pamor, and a semi circular formation at the base called batu lapak.
The pamor adeg is said to protect the owner from natural mishaps, while the pamor batu lapak is for protection during times of chaos.

Condition: Very good condition.

Age:  Krises are traditionally made without any date stampings or engravings of the makers' name. Although a kris smith or "empu" has his own styles configured together with the dapor and especially the ganjar (cross piece). Obvious age wear and tear, usage, familiarity with forms, motifs and designs, origin and history, mediums and materials used are our guidelines in determining an approximate age. This particular piece, from our experience and knowledge, should go back to the late 18th century, with silver stem cover added probably in the 1970's.

Length of blade: 14.5".   Overall length: 19.5".
