Keris Jawa Timur Lurus Jalak Ngore 0222.

Keris Jawa Timur Lurus Jalak Ngore 0222 - A rare example of a keris from the eastern Javanese regions of Blambangan. Fittings in the gayaman branggah styles, with the handle carved with a snake at the top, and made with well selected contrasting grained woods having a rare circular dark line at the middle called pelet kendit. Sheath is also made of contrasting grained woods called pelet awar-awar.

Long and very sturdy blade is straight or lurus with very well executed base features or perabots, having an overall shape or dapor called jalak ngore.

Pamor patterns are arranged in the mlumah technique of the wos utah or scattered rice variations, which is said to enhance the owner's material well being.

Condition: Very good condition.

Age:  Krises are traditionally made without any date stampings or engravings of the makers' name. Although a kris smith or "empu" has his own styles configured together with the dapor and especially the ganjar (cross piece). Obvious age wear and tear, usage, familiarity with forms, motifs and designs, origin and history, mediums and materials used are our guidelines in determining an approximate age. This particular piece, from our experience and knowledge, should go back to the early 19th century blade and sheath, with newly made hilt.

Length of blade: 13.5".   Overall length: 18".
