Keris Malela Luk 5 Ganjar Seiras Pamor 0322.

Keris Malela Luk 5 Ganjar Seiras Pamor 0322 - A good and rare example of a keris from the northern Malaysian peninsular region of Kelantan or Terengganu. The hilt in the pistol grip or kerdas form, and the top sheath in the square tebeng form, are made from very well selected  kemuning woods, with the bottom stem of angsana woods. A thick brass ferrule or pendoko completes the fittings.

Very sturdy blade with 5 luks or waves, having prominent spine and fullers flanking, with very well executed base features or perabots, and the rare ganjar seiras, where the base cross piece is made one with the blade. It has an overall shape or dapor called malela in Malay.

Pamor patterns are usually not contrasting which is the norm for the keris malela, with this blade having clear pamor arrangements in the mlumah technique of the wos utah or scattered rice variations.

Condition: Very good condition.

Age:  Krises are traditionally made without any date stampings or engravings of the makers' name. Although a kris smith or "empu" has his own styles configured together with the dapor and especially the ganjar (cross piece). Obvious age wear and tear, usage, familiarity with forms, motifs and designs, origin and history, mediums and materials used are our guidelines in determining an approximate age. This particular piece, from our experience and knowledge, should go back to the late 18th century.

Length of blade: 14".   Overall length: 17".

Price:- US$1,200 excluding shipping.
