Keris Melayu Lurus Sepokal Biji Nangka 0218 - A very good example of a keris form the southern Malay peninsula region of Johore or Selangor. Handle in the kerdas form and top sheath in the tebeng form, are made from hard kemuning woods with flashing grains. Bottom stem is made form angsana woods, with a deer horn bottom tip. A thick brass ferrule or pendoko completes fittings.

Very sturdy blade, is straight but has an angled profile with an overall shape or dapor called sepokal in Malay.

Pamor patterns are arranged in the mlumah technique, having a peak like formation at the base called ujung gunung, and oval shaped formations at the top called pamor biji nangka or jack fruit seeds.
With two pamor formations, it is also called dwi warna or bi colored.

Age:  Krises are traditionally made without any date stampings or engravings of the makers' name. Although a kris smith or "empu" has his own styles configured together with the dapor and especially the ganjar (cross piece). Obvious age wear and tear, usage, familiarity with forms, motifs and designs, origin and history, mediums and materials used are our guidelines in determining an approximate age. This particular piece, from our experience and knowledge, should go back to the late 19th century.
