Pedang Jawa Timur Tri Warna.

Pedang Jawa Timur Tri Warna – Very rare example of a sword from eastern Jawa. Kemuning wooden fittings with the hilt in the form of the relief makara and scaly repoussed silver base. Sheath is also having scaly reppoussed silver panels.

Very sturdy single edge blade with a rather straight profile is rather typical of eastern Javanese pedangs or words.

Very rare pamor arrangements in the miring technique having 3 different patterns; from the base, batu lapak or saddle stone, adeg or standing pamor, and unthuk banyu or water bubbles. The 3 pamor combination is also called tri warna or tri colored.

The pamor batu lapak is said to protect the owner in times of chaos, the pamor adeg is said to protect the owner from wild animals, and the pamor unthuk banyu is said to enhance the owner’s popularity.

Condition: Very good condition.

Age:  Krises and other edge weapons from the region are traditionally made without any date stampings or engravings of the makers' name. Obvious age wear and tear, usage, familiarity with forms, motifs and designs, origin and history, mediums and materials used are our guidelines in determining an approximate age. This particular piece, from our experience and knowledge, should go back to the middle 19th century.
