Sewah Aceh Tandok Metok Perak 0311 – Very good and rare example of a side weapon called sewah. From the northern Sumatran region of Aceh, the hilt in the form of the tumbok lada or chili pounder, is made of buffalo horn and has the base and ferrule or metok encased with thick and well repoussed silver, extending a little to cover the base of the blade. Kemuning wood top sheath with a buffalo horn tip, and bottom stem having plain silver bands.

Thick and very sturdy blade with single sharp edge and doubled fullered mid section and a pointy tip.

Pamor patterns are condense and are arranged in the mlumah technique of the wos utah or scattered rice variations which is said to enhance the owner’s material well being.

Condition: Very good condition.

Age:  Krises and other edge weapons from the region are traditionally made without any date stampings or engravings of the makers' name. Although a kris smith or "empu" has his own styles configured together with the dapor and especially the ganjar (cross piece). Obvious age wear and tear, usage, familiarity with forms, motifs and designs, origin and history, mediums and materials used are our guidelines in determining an approximate age. This particular piece, from our experience and knowledge, should go back to the early 19th century.
