Keris Bugis Luk 9 Emas.
Keris Bugis Luk 9 Emas – A fine example of a keris from Southern Sulawesi in origin, with fittings made of wood, and fully encased with finely repoussed gold/silver alloy (About 40% gold and 60% silver). Newly added yellow topaz stones adorn the fittings at places.
Very sturdy blade with 7 waves or luks, and strong well defined Bugis perabots or base features, using the kembang kacang, lambei gajah, two jalens, jenggots, and grenengs or fretworks.
Pattern welded blade having very condense pamor of the
beras tumpah or scattered rice. All patterns are unplanned or pamor tiban,
and at the base a concentration of pamor tiban is seen with a reference
called jung isi dunia, or vaguely translated as earth’s ingredients.
Overall piece strongly suggest high status wear, probably of noble or royal
stature.
Condition: Very good condition. Aside from very minor dents at the base of sheath, rest is all in very
good condition.
Age: Krises are traditionally made without any date stampings or engravings of the makers' name. Although a kris smith or "empu" has his own styles configured together with the dapor and especially the ganjar (cross piece). Obvious age wear and tear, usage, familiarity with forms, motifs and designs, origin and history, mediums and materials used are our guidelines in determining an approximate age. This particular piece, from our experience and knowledge, should go back to the late 19th century.
Length of blade: 14". Overall length: 21".
