Keris Jawa Lurus Jalak Ngore Ron Pakis.
Keris Jawa Lurus Jalak Ngore Ron Pakis – A very good
and rare example of a keris from central Javanese regions of Surakarta. Fittings
in the Gayaman Solo forms, with the hilt made of hard trembalo(?)
woods, and top sheath made of very well selected pellet woods with natural
contrasting grains. Bottom stem is made of wood, and is fully encased with
finely repoussed thick brass with pierced through works. A brass mendak
or ferrule studded with intans, or low grade diamonds completes fittings.
Long, very sturdy straight blade with thick prominent spine, has well executed
perabots with an overall shape or dapor called jalak ngore.
Pamor patterns are rare and are well arranged in the miring
technique. Flowing patterns resembling the chicken feathers or called ron
pakis is a rare pamor, and is hard to attain with good flowing patterns. The
pamor is said to enhance the owner’s status.
Condition: Very good condition.
Age: Krises are traditionally made without any date stampings or engravings of the makers' name. Although a kris smith or "empu" has his own styles configured together with the dapor and especially the ganjar (cross piece). Obvious age wear and tear, usage, familiarity with forms, motifs and designs, origin and history, mediums and materials used are our guidelines in determining an approximate age. This particular piece, from our experience and knowledge, should go back to the early to mid 19th century blade, with mid 20th century fittings.
Length of blade: 14.6". Overall length: 19.9".
