Keris Kelantan Luk 7 Pandai Saras Dwi Warna.
Keris Kelantan Luk 7 Pandai Saras Dwi Warna – A good
and rare example of a keris from the northern Malaysian peninsular region of
Kelantan. The hilt in the jawa demam form and the top sheath are made
from kemuning woods with natural flashing grains with the tips of the
sheath made of a different wood. The bottom stem or batang in Malay is
made from angsena woods with tiger’s stripe grains. A repoussed gold
plated brass pendoko or ferrule completes the fittings.
Thick and very sturdy blade with 9 luks or waves and a prominent
triangular spine or "tulang" in Malay has an overall shape or dapor
called pandai saras in Malay. The blade is also well tempered as seen
from the darker shades at the top three quarters of the blade.
Pamor pattern shows two different pamor arrangements on each side of the blade.
One side has the pamor kulit semangko or melon skin while the other has
the pamor adeg or standing pamor.
The pamor kulit semangko is said to enhance the owner’s popularity while
the pamor adeg is of the protective nature.
Condition: Very good condition.
Age: Krises are traditionally made without any date stampings or engravings of the makers' name. Although a kris smith or "empu" has his own styles configured together with the dapor and especially the ganjar (cross piece). Obvious age wear and tear, usage, familiarity with forms, motifs and designs, origin and history, mediums and materials used are our guidelines in determining an approximate age. This particular piece, from our experience and knowledge, should go back to the middle 19th century blade with newly made fittings.
Length of blade: 13.9". Overall length: 18".
