Keris Madura Lurus Pancar Warna.

Keris Madura Lurus Pancar Warna – Another very rare example of a keris from the eastern Javanese island of Madura. Wooden handle and sheath is in the ladrangan Madura styles with well carved handle and crisp carvings at the top sheath as well. A gold plated brass mendak or ferrule completes fittings.

Straight and very sturdy blade with well executed base features or perabots that has an overall shape or dapor called jalak ngore.

Rare pamor patterns are arranged in the miring technique, and has five different pamor patterns, from the base up, pamor blarak ngirid, ron genduru, lar gangsir, sumsun buron and tumpal keli. Another circumference pamor line formation is also called pamor wengkon. With more than 3 pamor patterns it is called panca warna, or multi colored.

Condition: Very good condition.

Age:  Krises are traditionally made without any date stampings or engravings of the makers' name. Although a kris smith or "empu" has his own styles configured together with the dapor and especially the ganjar (cross piece). Obvious age wear and tear, usage, familiarity with forms, motifs and designs, origin and history, mediums and materials used are our guidelines in determining an approximate age. This particular piece, from our experience and knowledge, should go back to the late 19th century, with new brass ferrule or mendak.

Length of blade: 15".   Overall length: 20.8".
