Keris Terrengganu Luk 7 Pamor Sumber.
Keris Terrengganu Luk 7 Pamor Sumber – A very good and rather
rare example of a keris from the northern Malaysian peninsular region of
Terrengganu. Handle
in the variant of the jawa demam form called anak ayam teleng, and
top sheath in are made from well selected kemuning woods with natural
flashing grains. The bottom stem is made of well selected angsena woods
with tiger's stripe grains, with an ivory bottom tip.
Sturdy blade with seven meandering waves or luks, has an overall shape or
dapor called tok chu in Malay.
Very condense pamor patterns are of the mlumah technique, and shows good
metals selection in the contrast. It's overall pamor pattern is of the
wos utah, or scattered rice variations. With all patterns unplanned, or
pamor tiban, the condense patterns at the base has many unplanned pamor
tibans, and especially on the ganjar or cross piece, small circular
formations are seen (like rain drops), and are called pamor sumber in
Javanese.
Condition: Very good condition. Aside from minor
blade surface wears, rest is all in very good condition.
Age: Krises are traditionally made without any date stampings or engravings of the makers' name. Although a kris smith or "empu" has his own styles configured together with the dapor and especially the ganjar (cross piece). Obvious age wear and tear, usage, familiarity with forms, motifs and designs, origin and history, mediums and materials used are our guidelines in determining an approximate age. This particular piece, from our experience and knowledge, the blade should go back to the early 18th century, with late 19th century fittings (refinished surface).
Length of blade: 11.8". Overall length: 16.6".
