Dua Lalan Toraja Tandok Perak.

Dua Lalan Toraja Tandok Perak – A very good and rare example of a sword from the central Sulawesi region of Toraja. Called the dua lalan, the hilt is made of buffalo horn with well repoussed silver alloy base ferrule. Sheath is made of hard woods and has well repoussed and very thick silver alloy panels.

Thick and very sturdy blade that feels heavy upon handling has a single sharp edge, very typical of dua lalans.

Pamor pattern are arranged in the miring technique and are of the adeg or standing variations. Metals used are very well selected using stronger combinations of metals that need added mentioning.

Condition: Very good condition. Aside from minor patch at the ferrule, rest is all in very good condition.

Age:  Krises and other edge weapons from the region are traditionally made without any date stampings or engravings of the makers' name. Although a kris smith or "empu" has his own styles configured together with the dapor and especially the ganjar (cross piece). Obvious age wear and tear, usage, familiarity with forms, motifs and designs, origin and history, mediums and materials used are our guidelines in determining an approximate age. This particular piece, from our experience and knowledge, should go back to the middle 19th century.

Length of blade: 19.1".   Overall length: 25.2".
