Golok Ricikan Sumtra Pamor Luwu.

Golok Ricikan Sumatra Pamor Luwu – A very good example of a short sword or golok from the central or southern region of Sumatra. Handle is made of buffalo horn, and with wooden sheath having the top and bottom tip also of horn and plain silver bands.

Thick and very sturdy blade with double sharp edge at the broader top side. The base has rare keris features of the kembang kacang and others which is very well executed.

Pamor patterns are condensed and are of the unthuk walang or grasshopper’s teeth. A bright silvery pamor line is seen forming near the edge of the blade, and this suggest the use of the much sought after pamor luwu metal from Luwuk, southern Sulawesi.

Condition: Very good condition.

Age:  Krises and other edge weapons are traditionally made without any date stampings or engravings of the makers' name. Although a kris smith or "empu" has his own styles configured together with the dapor and especially the ganjar (cross piece). Obvious age wear and tear, usage, familiarity with forms, motifs and designs, origin and history, mediums and materials used are our guidelines in determining an approximate age. This particular piece,  from our experience and knowledge, should go back to the early 19th century.

Length of blade: 19".   Overall length: 25.3".
