Golok Sumbawa Perak Lafath.

Golok Sumbawa Perak Lafath – A very good example of a short sword called golok from the eastern Indonesian island of Sumbawa. Handle and sheath are made of wood, and is fully encased with finely repoussed silver with the handle in a form hiding a human figurine. The sheath has finely repoussed floral motifs as well as the word “Allah” in Arabic and the word “Mohammad” at the base.

Thick and very sturdy blade with a single sharp edge and a broad top; features typical of goloks.

Pattern welded blade with pamor arranged in the miring technique, showing a peak like formation at the base called ujung gunung and vertical line formation at the top called pamor adeg or standing pamor. The presence of a single contrasting pamor line suggest the use of the sought after pamor luwu.

Condition: Very good condition. Aside from minor dents, rest is all in very good condition.

Age:  Krises and other edge weapons from the region are traditionally made without any date stampings or engravings of the makers' name. Although a kris smith or "empu" has his own styles configured together with the dapor and especially the ganjar (cross piece). This particular piece, from our experience and knowledge, should go back to the late 19th century.
