Jambiyah Aceh Unthuk Banyu.

Jambiyah Aceh Unthuk Banyu – A rare example of a Middle Eastern type of weapon called the jambiyah of Aceh, northern Sumatra in origin. Fittings are made of teak woods.

Thick, very sturdy blade with prominent spine has an arcing profile similar to the jambiyah of Middle East.

Complicated pamor patterns are condensed and arranged in the miring technique, and are of the unthuk banyu or water bubbles variation. It is said to enhance the owner's status as well as popularity.

Condition: Very Good condition.

Age:  Krises and other edge weapons are traditionally made without any date stampings or engravings of the makers' name. Although a kris smith or "empu" has his own styles configured together with the dapor and especially the ganjar (cross piece). Obvious age wear and tear, usage, familiarity with forms, motifs and designs, origin and history, mediums and materials used are our guidelines in determining an approximate age. This particular piece,  from our experience and knowledge, should go back to the late 19th century blade, with late 20th century fittings.

Length of blade: 10".   Overall length: 15.5".

• We accept American Express credit card mail orders and International checks in Singapore dollars, or bank or wire transfers. Please allow a few days for clearance. Items are dispatched only after payments are cleared.

• Shipment by air courier. Shipments by reliably known Federal Express. Depending on destination, please allow a maximum of  5 working days for safe delivery time. Other cheaper forms of delivery are available through Speedpost, an arm of the postal service here. Do not hesitate to e-mail for details.

• To the U.S.A, present rates are at US$32.00 per kilogram by FedEx (3 days) and Speedpost are at US$22.00 per kilogram (10 days). Other destinations please do inquire.
