Klewang Sumatra Tandok Makara.

Klewang Sumatra Tandok Makara – Another long word or saber from Sumatra with handle made of horn and in the form of the makara, with restored wooden sheath.

Thick and very sturdy blade with an arcing profile and a pointy tip, having a triangular false edge. Blade is still very sharp, and is well tempered at the edges.

Interesting metal combinations, with pamor patterns in the miring technique of the adeg or standing variations, and has an interestingly different darker metal combination at the inner core.

Condition: Very good condition.

Age:  Krises and other edge weapons are traditionally made without any date stampings or engravings of the makers' name. Although a kris smith or "empu" has his own styles configured together with the dapor and especially the ganjar (cross piece). Obvious age wear and tear, usage, familiarity with forms, motifs and designs, origin and history, mediums and materials used are our guidelines in determining an approximate age. This particular piece,  from our experience and knowledge, should go back to the early 19th century.

Length of blade: 20.7".   Overall length: 26.2".

• Shipment by air courier. Shipments by reliably known Federal Express. Depending on destination, please allow a maximum of  5 working days for safe delivery time. • To the U.S.A, present rates are at US$32.00 per kilogram by FedEx (3 days) and Speedpost are at US$22.00 per kiloram (10 days). Other destinations please do inquire.
