Klewang Sumatra Ulu Perak.

Klewang Sumatra Ulu Perak – A rare example of a broad sword, or parang/klewang of sumatra in origin (Zonenveld pg. 70), with wooden handle, fully encased with silver. The klewang sumatra usually does not come with sheath, but this has a wooden sheath more made for display than for use. The silver encasement also extends over the first couple of inches from the base of the blade, on the blunt side.

Pamor arranged in the mlumah technique and are of the beras tumpah (Malay), or scattered rice variations. The pamor beras tumpah is said to enhance the owner's material well being.

Condition: Very good condition. Aside from minor surface wears and slight patch on the silver, rest is all in very good condition.

Age:  Krises and other edge weapons from the region are traditionally made without any date stampings or engravings of the makers' name. Although a kris smith or "empu" has his own styles configured together with the dapor and especially the ganjar (cross piece). Obvious age wear and tear, usage, familiarity with forms, motifs and designs, origin and history, mediums and materials used are our guidelines in determining an approximate age. This particular piece, from our experience and knowledge, should go back to the late 19^th century.

• To the U.S.A, present rates are at US$32.00 per kilogram by FedEx (3 days) and Speedpost are at US$22.00 per kilogram (10 days). Other destinations please do inquire.
