Pisau Batak Patrem (Small).

Pisau Batak Patrem (Small) – A smaller Batak knife with typical brass fittings with the handle in the form of a human figurine and another figurine (female?) at the top sheath. Brass sheath has brass chain attachments commonly found from this type of regional styles.

Sturdy blade with an arcing profile, and has the minute fret works or grenengs at the base.

Pamor patterns are not contrasting as is the norm of the region, but has forging lines that shows arrangements in the mlumah technique.

The small size strongly suggests feminine useage or patrem in Javanese.

ood condition
. Aside from minor rust spots on blade (can be washed further), rest is all in very good condition.

Age:  Krises and other edge weapons from the region are traditionally made without any date stampings or engravings of the makers' name. Although a kris smith or "empu" has his own styles configured together with the dapor and especially the ganjar (cross piece). Obvious age wear and tear, usage, familiarity with forms, motifs and designs, origin and history, mediums and materials used are our guidelines in determining an approximate age. This particular piece, from our experience and knowledge, should go back to the middle 19th century.
