Pedang Jawa Perak Tri Warna.

Pedang Jawa Perak Tri Warna – A fine and rare example of a sword from the eastern Javanese regions. The handle is fully encased with finely repoussed silver and also having a silver guard. Wooden sheath is also fully encased with repoussed silver.

Very sturdy blade with a single sharp edge and is rather straight without arcing but with a rather pointy tip.

Pamor patterns are complicatedly arranged in the miring technique and have a semi circle at the base called pamor batu lapak or saddle stone. Above it are two distinctively different pamor patters, one called the unthuk banyu or water bubbles, and the other is the standing or pamor adeg.
With three different pamors, it is also called tri warna or tri colored.

Condition: Very good condition.

Age:  Krises and other edge weapons from the region are traditionally made without any date stampings or engravings of the makers' name. Although a kris smith or "empu" has his own styles configured together with the dapor and especially the ganjar (cross piece). Obvious age wear and tear, usage, familiarity with forms, motifs and designs, origin and history, mediums and materials used are our guidelines in determining an approximate age. This particular piece, from our experience and knowledge, should go back to the early to mid 19th century.

Length of blade: 19.5".   Overall length: 27.5".
