Pedang Sabit Sumatra Ulu Tandok Batu Lapak. 

Pedang Sabit Sumatra Ulu Tandok Batu Lapak – A very good example of a saber or pedang sabit from the central Sumatran regions. Handle is made of buffalo horn and has silver panels at the tip and base or ferrule. Newly made sheath is made of two different types of wood. The lighter one is kemuning and the darker one is sono kling.

Very sturdy blade with single sharp edge and a saber like look which is called pedang sabit.

Pattern welded blade with an overall pamor of the adeg or standing variations, with the base having a semi circular formation called pamor batu lapak, or saddle stone pamor.

Age:  Krises and other edge weapons from the region are traditionally made without any date stampings or engravings of the makers' name. Although a kris smith or "empu" has his own styles configured together with the dapor and especially the ganjar (cross piece). Obvious age wear and tear, usage, familiarity with forms, motifs and designs, origin and history, mediums and materials used are our guidelines in determining an approximate age. This particular piece, from our experience and knowledge, should go back to the middle 19th century.
