Shamsir Arab Perak.

Shamsir Arab Perak –A rare example of a long sword called the Shamsir from the middle east. Most probably left behind by the Arab traders, the fittings are typical of the Arabian peninsular styles, and are made of wood with fully encased, well repoussed silver with a plain silver alloy centre panel.

Sturdy and very long arcing blade with a single sharp edge and double fullers is flexible and returns back to it shape when bent.

It is pattern welded with very condense pattern (not obvious as its not well washed) and has strong suspicion of wootz or watered steel forging technique.

Condition: Very good condition. Aside from few rust spots on blade, rest is all in very good condition.

Age:  Krises and other edge weapons are traditionally made without any date stampings or engravings of the makers' name. Although a kris smith or "empu" has his own styles configured together with the dapor and especially the ganjar (cross piece). Obvious age wear and tear, usage, familiarity with forms, motifs and designs, origin and history, mediums and materials used are our guidelines in determining an approximate age. This particular piece,  from our experience and knowledge, should go back to the middle 19th century fittings.

Length of blade: 31.5".   Overall length: 37.4".

• Shipment by air courier. Shipments by reliably known Federal Express. Depending on destination, please allow a maximum of  5 working days for safe delivery time. Other cheaper forms of delivery are available through Speedpost, an arm of the postal service here. Do not hesitate to e-mail for details.

• To the U.S.A, present rates are at US$32.00 per kilogram by FedEx (3 days) and Speedpost are at US$22.00 per kilogram (10 days). Other destinations please do inquire.
