Tombak Jawa Luk 7 Naga Pengantin.

Tombak Jawa Luk 7 Naga Pengantin – A good and rare example of a spear or tombak from the central Javanese regions. Wooden sheath with traces of surface gilt finish and weaved rattan bindings. The typical short shaft having plain brass top and bottom.

Very sturdy blade with 7 waves or luks and a prominent spine that acts as the entwining body of the two nagas or dragons at the base that is called
naga pengantin, or marriage nagas.

Pmaor pattern are condense and are arranged in the mlumah technique of the wos
utah or scattered rice variations. It is said to enhance the owner’s material well being.

Condition: Very good condition. Aside from minor cracks and restorations at the wooden sheath, rest is all in very good condition.

Age:  Krises and other edge weapons from the region are traditionally made without any date stampings or engravings of the makers' name. Although a kris smith or "empu" has his own styles configured together with the dapor and especially the ganjar (cross piece). Obvious age wear and tear, usage, familiarity with forms, motifs and designs, origin and history, mediums and materials used are our guidelines in determining an approximate age. This particular piece, from our experience and knowledge, should go back to the middle to late 19th century with newly made wooden shaft.
