Ulu Bali Bahtara Banyu Gold Silver Gemstones 0922 - A fine example of a keris hilt from the island of Bali. Carved from wood, and fully encased with finely repoussed gold and silver, having gemstones studded at places, with details that shows facial and bodily features that needs added mentioning. It is depicting the deity called Bahtara Banyu who was assigned to organize and master the wind. At the time of Treta Yuga, Batara Bayu became Hanoman's teacher.

Condition: Very good condition.

Age:  Krises are traditionally made without any date stampings or engravings of the makers' name. Although a kris smith or "empu" has his own styles configured together with the dapor and especially the ganjar (cross piece). Obvious age wear and tear, usage, familiarity with forms, motifs and designs, origin and history, mediums and materials used are our guidelines in determining an approximate age. This particular piece, from our experience and knowledge, should go back to the early to mid. 20th century.
