Keris Jawa Lurus Junjung Darjat Asihan 1214.
Keris Jawa Lurus Junjung Darjat
Asihan 1214 - Another very good and rare example
of a keris from the central Javanese regions of Surakarta. Wrangka or
fittings in the ladrangan Solo styles and is made from very well selected
woods with flashing grains. An open brass stem cover or pendok blewah and
a brass ferrule or mendak completes fittings.
Long thick and very sturdy straight blade with minimal base features or
perabots has an overall shape or dapor called tilam upih.
Pamor patterns are rare and are arranged in the miring technique showing
peak formations from the base till the tip. The pamor is called pamor
junjung darjat and is sought after for it is said to enhance the owner's
status. There are also pamor lines at teh base cross piece or ganjar that
flows vertically and this is called pamor asihan and is said to
enhance the owner's popularity.
Condition: Very good condition.
Age: Krises are traditionally made without any date stampings or engravings of the makers' name. Although a kris smith or "empu" has his own styles configured together with the dapor and especially the ganjar (cross piece). Obvious age wear and tear, usage, familiarity with forms, motifs and designs, origin and history, mediums and materials used are our guidelines in determining an approximate age. This particular piece, from our experience and knowledge, should go back to the early 19th century blade with newly made fittings.
Length of blade: 15.2". Overall length: 20".
