Keris Jawa Jogja Luk 11 Panimbal 0423 – A good example of a keris from the central Javanese region of Jogjakarta. Fittings in the gayaman Jogja forms with the handle and top sheath made from hard well grained woods, with the bottom stem encased with an open brass stem cover, and a brass ferrule or mendak to complete fittings..
Sturdy with 11 waves or luks, and
well executed base features or perabots, having an overall shape or
dapor called panimbal in Javanese.
Pamor patterns are forged in the mlumah technique called pamor kulit semangko or melon skin pamor,
which is said to enhance the owner's popularity.
Condition: Very good condition.
Age: Krises are traditionally made without any date stampings or engravings of the makers' name. Although a kris smith or "empu" has his own styles configured together with the dapor and especially the ganjar (cross piece). Obvious age wear and tear, usage, familiarity with forms, motifs and designs, origin and history, mediums and materials used are our guidelines in determining an approximate age. This particular piece, from our experience and knowledge, should go back to the middle to late 18th century.
