Keris Jawa Timur Luk 9 Petola Segaluh 0319.

Keris Jawa Timur Luk 9 Petola Segaluh 0319 - Another good and rare example of a keris from the eastern Javanese regions, with the fittings or  wrangka  in the gayaman branggah forms, made from very well selected pelet woods having naturally occurring dark grains occurring due to fungus attack. Handle in the typical patra form is made from well grained hard woods sono keling.

Very sturdy blade with 9 very sublime waves or luk petola, has well executed base features or perabots, using the kembang kacang nguku bima, having an overall shape or dapor called segaluh.

Pamor patterns are arranged in the mlulah technique, shows circular formations along the middle called pamor uler lulut, or snake skin pamor. It is said to enhance the owner's status and material well being.

Condition: Very good condition.

Age:  Krises are traditionally made without any date stampings or engravings of the makers' name. Although a kris smith or "empu" has his own styles configured together with the dapor and especially the ganjar (cross piece). Obvious age wear and tear, usage, familiarity with forms, motifs and designs, origin and history, mediums and materials used are our guidelines in determining an approximate age. This particular piece, from our experience and knowledge, should go back to the late 18th century blade with late 19th century fittings.

Length of blade: 14.5".   Overall length: 19.5".
