Keris Melayu Kedah Lurus 1221.

Keris Melayu Kedah Lurus 1221 - A very good and rare example of a keris form the northern central Malaysian peninsular state of Kedah. The hilt in the jawa demam form, is made from hard ebony wood, having a think brass pendoko or base ferrule. Top sheath in the tebeng form, is made from very well selected kemuning woods with flashings grains. Bottom stem is from angsana woods with tiger stripe grains, and the bottom quarter has finely entwined jute strings.

Very sturdy straight or
lurus blade with a prominent spine, has plain base features with a very pointy tip.

Pamor patterns are arrangements are of the mlumah technique and are of the 
kulit semangka or melon's skin variations, but is unusually seen at the bottom half of the blade.

Condition: Very good condition.

Age:  Krises are traditionally made without any date stampings or engravings of the makers' name. Although a kris smith or "empu" has his own styles configured together with the dapor and especially the ganjar (cross piece). Obvious age wear and tear, usage, familiarity with forms, motifs and designs, origin and history, mediums and materials used are our guidelines in determining an approximate age. This particular piece, from our experience and knowledge, should go back to the mid 18th century.
