Pedang Tusuk Jawa Dwi Warna 0122.

Pedang Tusuk Jawa Dwi Warna 0122  Very good and rare example of a stabbing sword called the pedang tusuk from central Jawa. Typical handle form usually made of buffalo horn with thick white brass guard that can act as a knuckle duster and also a sword breaker. Wooden sheath is encased with white brass panels.

Very sturdy blade with an angular profile that tapers at the tip,  having a single sharp edge at the bottom half and double sharp edges at the top half; meant for slashing and also stabbing.

Pamor patterns are condense and a peak like formation is seen at the base with the tip ending at the middle of the blade. Above and alongside it are pamor arranged in the mlumah technique of the kulit semangko or melon skin pamor. With two pamor patterns it is also called dwi warna or bi colours.

Condition: Very good condition.

Age:  Krises and other edge weapons from the region are traditionally made without any date stampings or engravings of the makers' name. Although a kris smith or "empu" has his own styles configured together with the dapor and especially the ganjar (cross piece). Obvious age wear and tear, usage, familiarity with forms, motifs and designs, origin and history, mediums and materials used are our guidelines in determining an approximate age. This particular piece, from our experience and knowledge, should go back to the early 19th century.

Length of blade: 21".   Overall length: 25.5".
